Lincoln Mayne
“Clay holds the truth, whether I like it or not. It takes every intention, moment of doubt, and happy accident and holds them in perpetuity. I am drawn to that kind of honesty. There is nowhere to hide in clay. Every decision is laid bare, long after the moment has passed. What was once soft and responsive becomes fixed, sealing the truth of its making. Fired, it becomes an object out of time, a rigid witness standing still as the world continues around it.”
Born in Sydney, Australia, in 1971, Lincoln Mayne is an artist and ceramicist based in Los Angeles. He studied fine arts at Claremont School of Arts in Perth, Western Australia.
