About the event
Minhwa: Korean Folk Painting
A Pop-up Exhibition at AMPHI OBJECTS
Opening November 14, 2026
AMPHI OBJECTS presents a special pop-up exhibition of hand-painted Korean folk paintings by Soonja Yoo, Kyungja Kim, and Rebecca Mercier.
Minhwa (민화), or Korean folk painting, brings together vivid colors, expressive imagery, and symbolic themes reflecting wishes for good fortune, longevity, and happiness. From flowering peonies and playful tigers to books, vessels, and imagined landscapes, this presentation explores the variety of the tradition through both familiar compositions and contemporary interpretations.
Presented in AMPHI OBJECTS, the gallery’s shop space at the rear of AMPHI Gallery, the pop-up opens alongside Misread Me Correctly Visitors are invited to discover both presentations during their visit.
